Germany adds 53 more athletes to Paris 2024 squad
Team Germany for Paris 2024 has grown by 53 more athletes among the sports of judo, shooting, swimming and triathlon.
The list now includes several Olympians and medal winners from past Olympic Games like Florian Wellbrock (gold medal in Tokyo 2020: 10 km open water; bronze: 1500 m freestyle), Anna-Maria Wagner (bronze medals in Tokyo 2020: judo 78 kg individual and mixed team) and Lena Hentschel (bronze medal in Tokyo 2020: 3m synchronized diving).
Olaf Tabor, Chef de Mission and Executive Board for Competitive Sports of the German Olympic Sports Confederation DOSB, will lead the German Olympic team for the first time: “Team Germany is continuing to grow and is slowly taking shape. With a total of 66 nominated athletes, the first sub-teams are now complete. But there is still a lot of work to be done to reach the expected total of more than 400 athletes”, Tabor said.
The other nomination dates on the way to Paris 2024 are 25 June, 2 July and 5 July. The clothing fitting of the German Olympic participants begins on 2 July at the Düsseldorf Exhibition Centre.
The German Olympic team last consisted of 415 athletes in Tokyo 2020. A total of 37 medals were won, 10 of them gold.
