Since 2019, she has been an active member of several committees in the International Olympic Committee including Future Host Commission for the Games of the Olympiad and Sustainability and Legacy. Fortes also represents the IOC on the board of the World Anti-Doping Agency.
The 58-year-old was joined by Cape Verdean Olympic Committee team members as she proudly accepted the Torch-Bearer Award.
“I thank you and promise to continue to spread peace, using sport as a vehicle for the union of the people and the promotion of local and world peace,” said Fortes.
